Abstract
This book begins with a review of the history of biofuel. It contains chapters that are devoted to emerging technologies for biofuel production, cell wall structure and destructing approaches, cellulosic biofuel crops role in phytoremediation, and feedstock pretreatment methods. Detailed discussion on the physiological and genetic research challenges and opportunities for the improvement of biofuel crops at large also constitutes a chapter. The book comprehensively covers taxonomy, genetics, breeding, physiology and biochemistry of algae and different technologies of their conversion to biofuel in view of the future potential of algal biofuel.
