Abstract

Abstract

This chapter provides a preliminary report of an ongoing study on nautical wine tourism in the Finger Lakes wine region of New York State, USA. The concept is defined, the physical and market characteristics of the study site described and the stakeholders categorized and quantified. It is indicated that the opportunity to establish and promote a successful nautical wine tourism product in the Finger Lakes wine region appears to be significant. There is strong economic activity in canal tourism, wine tourism and lake recreational boating in the region, but no sustained effort to unite these elements into a focused product.
