Abstract
The Halvori Vank‘, Armenian Surb Karapet (St. John the Precursor) Monastery in Dersim, has for centuries remained one of the most revered holy sites both for the Armenians and the neighbouring Zazas. The article is an attempt to generalise the information on the Halvori Vank‘, culled from historical sources, including those unknown to wider academic audience—traveller accounts and descriptions by local Armenian intellectuals.
