Abstract
Museum tourism is a type of cultural tourism whereby tourists visit museums to get acquainted with certain values of historical and cultural heritage. Museum tourism market estimated at 20 billion US dollars in 2022. According to UNESCO, currently there are approximately 104,000 museums in the world, with the largest number of museums being located in the USA, totaling 33,082 museums. Among the best museums in the world are: Louvre, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Hermitage, Vatican Museums, Uffizi Gallery, Orsay, Prado, British Museum, and others. This paper presents the world's best museums, as well as unique museums, types of museum visitors, museum tourism development trends in the world in recent years, the main marketing tools used by museums to attract visitors. The analysis extends to the museum sector in the RA offering insights into necessary steps for the development of museum tourism.
