Abstract
The purpose of this article is to provide greater clarity on rockfall phenomena and the reasons for their occurrence. Rockfall are gravitational phenomena that occur in rocky terrain with a significant slope of more than 50 degrees. They are characterized by their instantaneous development, the complexity of their prediction and assessment. Rockfalls causes significant damage to buildings and infrastructure, as well as human casualties. This is also the case with the rockfall on the road I-1 Sofia-Botevgrad in the area of the village of Vrachesh at the foot of the Shuntova Chuka hill (652.3 m) in the Bilo Planina Mountain. The rockfall affected part of the electricity transmission network in the area, the road infrastructure and poses a potential danger to people who use the water of the spring at the base of the rock massif.
