Abstract
Dicyanidobis(aromatic α,α′-diimine) Fe(ii) complexes efficiently constrain the equatorial plane of the Dy(iii) centre which opens a pathway for controlling the lanthanide magnetic anisotropy by placing organic N-oxides at axial positions.
