Abstract
PFOA decomposition initiates via HF elimination and formation of perfluorinated α-lactone. Perfluorinated α-lactone readily releases CO, forming perfluorinated acyl fluoride. Wet-decomposition completely mineralizes PFOA to HF, COx, COF2, and CF2.
