Abstract
[Ruiii(phtpy)Cl3] complex is labile and releases terdentate phtpy ligand in solution leading to the formation of the homoleptic [Ruii(phtpy)2] complex as main product instead of the desired [Ru(phtpy)(LL)Cl] complex upon reaction with bidentated LL ligands.
