Abstract

A merocyanine isomer of photochromic 8-methoxy-1′,3′,3′-trimethyl-6-nitro-spiro[chromene-2,2′-indole] spiropyran forms a complex with cobalt(ii) hexafluoroacetylacetonate. CoII has a high-spin state in a distorted octahedral environment. SQUID and shows slow magnetic relaxation.
