Abstract
This paper discusses research devoted to the study of the intensity change of diffracted and transmitted X-ray beams under the action of a temperature gradient or acoustic oscillations, as well as the techniques for `controllable complete reflection' of transmitted X-radiation in the direction of the diffracted beam. Also discussed are results on the double modulation of X-ray beam intensity by acoustic oscillations. A scheme is presented for a practical device for transmission and reception of audio information, in particular speech, with the help of X-ray beams diffracted by perfect single crystals. Finally, there are suggestions for applications of modulated beams in the solution of various problems in physics.
