The spectrum of H 2 . The bands ending on 2 p 3 Π levels. Part III

Abstract

1. The Band Lines which go down to 2 p 3 Π from the 4 d 3 Complex . This paper is an immediate continuation of Part Π which described the band systems whose lower levels were 2 p 3 Π ab and whose upper levels were 3 d 3 Σ g , 3 d 3 Π b , 3 d 3 Π a , and 3 s 3 Σ g . In the present paper (Part III) we start by describing the band systems which end on 2 p 3 Π ab and come from 4 d 3 Σ g , 4 d 3 Π b , 4 d 3 Π a . and 4 d 3 Δ b . After that we consider the properties and constants of all the various levels 2 p 3 Π ab , 3 d 3 Σ g , 3 d 3 Π b , 3 d 3 Π a , 3 d 3 3d 3 Δ b , 3 d 3 Δ a , 4 d 3Σ g , 4 d 3 Π b , 4 d 3 Π a , and 4 d 3 Δ b . Most of these constants are worked out from the Appendix, in which the energy levels and the intensities in the bands are shown to be in good agreement with the wave mechanics.
