Antisymmetric response of a box-like ship

Author:

Abstract

A theoretical basis is given based upon a Lagrange formulation in which the strength of ships may be analysed for antisymmetric distortions caused by waves. This present study relates to conventional, ‘box-like’, vessels such as tankers. It is shown that analysis of antisymmetric motions in a seaway is merely a special case of the structural analysis.
