The effect of series compliance on the tension developed in a muscle twitch

Abstract

In a twitch it is known that a quick stretch makes the maximum tension greater and earlier. This is due, in effect, to reducing the series compliance. The converse experiment has been performed, of adding a series compliance. The result is to diminish and delay the maximum tension.
