Abstract
A description is given of the autonom ic neurom uscular junction and of the junction potentials which occur in smooth muscle bundles during transmission. The structural and electrical constants of these muscle bundles have been determined and used to develop an electrical model of the bundle. This has then enabled an analysis of the origin and distribution of current generated by transm itter released from autonomic nerves within the bundle
