Abstract
The Birmingham proton synchrotron is described in relation to its experimental use as a source of high-energy protons. Information is given on matters such as the dimensions and intensity of the circulating beam, the methods by which its impact upon internal targets can be controlled, and the effect of the field of the magnet upon the paths of secondary charged particles.
