Abstract
AbstractThe microstructure and mechanical behavior of Al2O3 fiber-reinforced NiAlFe composites fabricated using the pressure casting technique were investigated. The mechanical response and fracture behavior of these unidirectional composites under tensile and three-point flexural loading were characterized. The results were compared to those measured for Al2O,/NiAl-based composites fabricated by powder metallurgy techniques. Preliminary results indicate that pressure casting appears to be a viable processing route for fabricating continuous fiber-reinforced NiAl-based composites.
