Abstract
The Love/Hate Checklist of 45 “loving” and 45 “hateful” adverbs reliably assessed such actions by parents as perceived by their adult children. The scores on the checklist regarding both parents' loving actions were also significantly correlated with 20 college students' self-concepts but not with their ratings of their parents. Explanations are offered to account for these findings.
