Abstract
The purpose of this study was to clarify several theoretical and methodological problems in the use of human figure drawings with male narcotics addicts. Human figure drawings of both sexes were obtained from 295 institutionalized male narcotic addicts. 33% of Ss were asked to assign an age to each drawing. In general, our results gave some support to findings reported in the literature. 68% drew the female first, or larger, or both, indicating a certain amount of “mother-involvement.” Female figures were drawn significantly larger than male figures. Ethnic differences were also noted.
