Ionic Conductivity of Liquid NH4CI from Triple Point to Critical Point

Abstract

AbstractElectrical conductivity measurements on liquid ammonium chloride along the vapour pressure curve were performed in a high pressure autoclave with an internal quartz cell from the triple point (TT= 520 °C) to within thirty degrees of the critical point (Tc= 882 °C,Pc= 1635 bar).The molar conductivity data indicate, that liquid NH4Cl at 850 °C (0.97Tc) is still totally dissociated into ions. Estimates for the critical region predict, that ammonium chloride is at least predominantly ionized even at the critical point.
