Abstract
Subject. The article considers issues of increasing life expectancy, the development of the health care system in Russia.
Objectives. The purpose is to analyze relationship between the increase in mortality (including working age) and the main indicators of the country's economic development.
Methods. The study employs the tenets of the theory of utility.
Results. The paper estimates the economic damage caused by premature death of people under the age of 72 (by age group), as well as children under the age of 14.
Conclusions. Health spending needs to be increased. Reducing mortality will improve the demographic situation and, accordingly, reduce the damage to the Russian economy.
