1. Martha Singer received a BA from Bard College (1988) and an MA in art history and diploma in conservation from New York University, Conservation Center of the Institute of Fine Arts (1996). She interned in sculpture conservation at the Conservation Centre in Liverpool, England, and practised in Quebec City, Canada. 2. Valerie Fletcher earned her MA and PhD degrees from Columbia University in 1978 and 1994, respectively. In 1978 she joined the research staff at the Hirshhorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, where she became curator of sculpture in 1984 and curator of modern sculptures and paintings in 2003.
