Abstract

This paper deals with tyre modelling to predict the rolling resistance of truck tyres under a dynamic vertical load. Several models are applied and modified to perform the desired calculations. The model predictions are compared with the available experimental data on rolling resistance under a dynamic vertical load. The analysis is extended into a larger frequency range so that the different models considered can be assessed, and recommendations are made as to which model is best suited to the desired purpose. Within the frequency range considered and based on the experimental data available, Pacejka's model appears to give the best results.
