Abstract
During the course of a race a Grand Prix car may spend substantial periods following closely behind other cars, yet the wind tunnel testing of Formula 1 racing cars is almost entirely carried out in an undisturbed air flow. This study demonstrates that the influence of slipstreaming is sufficient to be given much greater consideration during the aerodynamic design process
