Abstract
The Functional Independence Measures scale is one of the most frequently used tools for the assessment of functional capacity of individuals with spinal cord injuries. Measurements of the functional outcome in these individuals are essential in the rehabilitation process. This study aimed at reviewing the scientific literature regarding the reliability, validity and responsiveness of FIM in individuals with spinal cord injuries. The results showed good internal consistence, inter-rater reliability, validity and responsiveness, except for the assessment of the cognitive dimension and the locomotor domain.
