Problems Faced in Human Resources Applications from Human Resources Managers’ Perspective

Abstract

This study aims to put forth the troubles and bottlenecks faced in Human Resources (HR) processes and functions of large-scale companies from HR aspect. Research reflects the perspectives of HR managers’ working for 47 large-scale companies operating in various sectors of different industries. The data are collected from HR managers of companies with more than 250 employees through structured interviews between September and December 2019. It could be said that the department of HR was present in almost all of the large-scale companies. However, HR gives an image of a low autonomy department in terms of its own functions. The bottlenecks determined are reaching qualified employee in personnel procurement, being reluctant to participate in-service trainings, objectivity problem in performance evaluation, overtime pay problems in pay management, not following rules and not using protective equipment in employee health and safety issues. Full and conscious support of top management is advised in order to run the HR functions successfully.
