Abstract
Models are developed which simulate expected chromosome pairing in pentaploid hybrids. Comparison of the various models with observed meiotic data allow the measurement of genomic affinity and therefore a new investigation of species and evolutionary relationships. The advantages and disadvantages of investigations at the pentaploid level are compared with those of the previously developed models for triploids and tetraploids.
