Abstract
The early history of the discovery and study of molecules in space was heavily influenced by three Canadians: Gerhard Herzberg, Alex Douglas, and Andrew McKellar. In writing this paper I have tried to cover the most important aspects of the objective scientific history and to give readers a glimpse of my personal knowledge of these men who played such important roles.
