Abstract
The basic extracts of five oriental Ormosia species (O. sumatrana, O. emarginata, O. indurata, O. semicastrata, and O. pachycarpa) have been examined and N-methylcytisine, N-methyltetrahydrocytisine, ormosanine, 18-epiormosanine, and racemic piptanthine have been isolated and identified. A further alkaloid of formula C20H33N3, which does not appear to have been described previously, has been isolated from O. semicastrata.
