Abstract
Cyclic friction tests between laboratory grown columnar ice and micro-concrete plates were performed at 10°C to study iceconcrete friction under conditions similar to those observed in icestructure interactions. This paper presents the results obtained in terms of friction coefficients. Effects of time and contact conditions are analysed, and conclusions about the effective physical mechanisms of friction are drawn. These conclusions are validated by a simple model of the iceconcrete contact.Key words: ice, structure, concrete, contact, interaction, friction, law, model, viscoplasticity, roughness.
