Application of Circuit Transformations to Systems of Lenses

Abstract

The discrete elements comprising a series of lenses or an optical resonator can be treated as transmission line circuit elements. This gives an easy method to follow the paths of light rays in such structures. The usual circuit transformations can also be applied to the optical elements thus yielding a simple way to find an equivalent resonator to a complex resonator.
