Abstract
A complete analysis of the lensing effect in helical TEA lasers is presented. Based on the theory of the gas lens, a theoretical model is developed and found capable of explaining the fast and slow time behavior of the lensing effect. It is also found that at the instant of laser emission, the helical TEA laser still presents a parabolic index of refraction profile.
