Abstract
S35O4− has been used to show that the residual sulphur in nitrocellulose is not held by adsorption on the surface, as sulphate. Evidence has been obtained to support the view that the sulphur which is not removed by washing after nitration and subsequent stabilization is present within the fibrous structure.
