Lag Adjustment Between Estimated and Actual Physiological Responses Conducted in Flow-Through Systems

Abstract

The results from physiological experiments that use a flow-through or open system may be biased because of lag. The nature of this discrepancy is attributable to a delay between the actual response of an organism and the measured response of the system. An equation is presented that would adjust the measurement for lag. This procedure is especially important when measuring time-dependent uptake and depuration rates like those reported in respiratory and toxicological studies.
