Fiber-coupled, quantum cascade laser-based, open-path airborne sensor for atmospheric ammonia measurements

Abstract

A hollow core fiber was coupled to a c-mount, quantum cascade laser for open-path detection of atmospheric ammonia onboard the NASA DC-8 aircraft. In-flight measurements demonstrated sub-ppbv precision for NH3 at 1s in the troposphere.
