1. It is known that ternary solid solutions Hg1-x CdxTe of CdTe in HgTe exhibit positive values of (dEo/dT) for 0.5 >x > 0.15. However, both HgTe and CdTe have negative values of (dEo/dT). Similarly, ternary solid solutions of SnTe in PbTe, and of SnSe in PbSe display positive values of (dEo/dT), for SnTe or SnSe concentrations below particular values, reflecting the behavior of the lead-salt component.
