4. Synthesis of compounds 4a–c, general procedure: To a stirred solution of CSA (23mg, 0.1mmol) in 5mL of alcohol was added pyrazole 3 (140mg, 1mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at rt for 1h, then 15mL of a saturated NaHCO3 solution and 15mL of CH2Cl2 were added. The organic layer was separated, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated under vacuum to give a colourless oil. Synthesis of compounds 4d–h, general procedure: To a stirred solution of CSA (23mg, 0.1mmol) and alcohol or thiol (3mmol) in 5mL of CH2Cl2 was added pyrazole 3 (140mg, 1mmol). The resulting mixture was stirred at rt for 1h, then 15mL of a saturated NaHCO3 solution and 15mL of CH2Cl2 were added.
