Abstract
The synthesis and characterization of silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) was planned for the first time by applying microwave method from 2% (w/v) aqueous solutions of green tea extract obtained by microwave extraction from the Eastern Black Sea region of Turkey and catechin extract separated by SFE extraction in this study.100 mL of AgNO3 aqueous solution varying between 0.5 mM-10 mM were added to the green tea and catechin extract (2 w/v) aqueous solutions in different volume (0.5mL-4mL) derived in consequence of the extractions and Ag nanoparticles were produced in a household microwave at 90 W power for 1–60 minutes in the presence and absence of PEG. Uv-Vis, FTIR, TEM, XRD and Zetasizer were applied in the characterization of Ag nanoparticles synthesized using green chemistry principles. In this method, AgNPs were successfully produced in 0.5 mL extract volume using 1 mM AgNO3 aqueous solution. Each method was repeated three times. As a result, it was concluded that AgNP can be produced easily, economically and quickly by using green tea and catechin extracts in this study.
