Abstract

The world has witnessed dramatic changes in the education sector especially amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. The academic institutions had to immediately shift to online modes of education where most countries were not prepared for this sudden transition. The radical shift from traditional modes of education to the digital modes of education resulted in a lot of friction initially from the stakeholders, but eventually, many advantages and strengths of the same were realised. In this light, the present study aims to extensively review the literature and present a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats) analysis to systematically present the different nuances of online education. The study serves as a ready base for academicians and educational institutions' administrators to comprehensively view the holistic development and digital change in the sector and the repercussions on various stakeholders that follow.
