Abstract
In contrast to traditional materials, polymer matrix-based composites (PMCs) have become increasingly popular due to their versatility in a wide range of industrial applications. These composites possess the necessary properties and offer endless possibilities for construction and composite levels. This chapter aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the machining process for composite materials with a polymer matrix. It will cover the machining procedures involved and shed light on the challenges faced during this process. These challenges encompass the varying properties of the composites, their complex structural composition, and the difficulty in achieving high-quality surface finishes. Furthermore, the chapter delves into various research studies that have addressed different aspects of polymer matrix-based composites. These studies include investigations into material handling and properties, encompassing physical, mechanical, electrical, thermal, and tribological characteristics.
