Abstract
This chapter assessed the role of social media on the adoption of technology in public sector organizations. The chapter employed a case study of the impact of the Pak-NSDI WhatsApp Group on NSDI adoption in Pakistan. The results revealed that the Pak-NSDI WhatsApp Group functioned as a valuable resource for learning and knowledge-sharing, facilitating networking and connections within the spatial data community. It played a significant role in advancing SDI in academia, the private sector, and government organizations. Implications of the study included raising SDI awareness, promoting collaboration, overcoming barriers, engaging public and private sectors, involving academia, and fostering knowledge sharing. Overall, the chapter underscored the significance of the Pak-NSDI WhatsApp Group in promoting SDI adoption and awareness. Policymakers, practitioners, and researchers are encouraged to explore additional avenues for SDI promotion and collaboration.
