Abstract
The purpose of this study is to evaluate the activities surrounding university accreditation in Nigerian Universities. The Nigeria National Universities Commission developed a benchmark minimum academic standards (BMAS) requirement to ensure conformity with minimum standards and to promote quality and ascertain the standard of the courses thought in terms of information resources, quality of personnel, and teaching environment, so that university products (students) can meet the demand of the ever-changing labour market. Accreditation aims to guarantee that the higher institution delivers satisfactory to these three cardinal goals. University library plays an important role in the accreditation process of any program, and without well-equipped library services and resources, hardly any program will sail through the accreditation process.
