Abstract
Encouraging feedback is important for student persistence and success. Without encouraging feedback needed to narrow the transactional distance of online higher education, students may miss out on opportunities to feel a sense of persistence despite any received feedback. Likewise, overlooking encouraging feedback leaves faculty in a place of not supporting continued building of heutagogy. This chapter will review and demonstrate giving encouraging feedback, why that is important, and the connections between encouraging feedback, andragogy, and the online learning capacity building continuum.
