Abstract
VR immerses travelers in history and stories. The chapter opens with VR's impact on historical tourism. Virtual reality may enable immersive historical experiences beyond storytelling limits. This chapter offers virtual reality case studies at monuments, ruins, and cultural heritage sites. The case studies show how historical immersion in virtual reality enhances visitor engagement, enjoyment, and learning. This chapter examines how VR influences narrative immersion, agency, empathy, and presence. This chapter covers VR historical tourism's ethical, preservation, and technological issues. Cost, data protection, and accessibility enable inclusive and ethical VR. Finally, the authors discuss how technological and storytelling advances in virtual reality (VR) may revolutionize how we learn about and experience the past. Finally, VR can revive historical tales, enhance visitor experiences, and enhance digital discovery, learning, and cultural enrichment.
