Abstract
Artificial Intelligence plays a pivotal in resolving climate change and the environmental crisis with the help of AI technologies. However, by scrubbing massive amounts of information from satellites and sensors, it can refine climate prediction allowing for better re-prioritization downstream when initiating mitigation plans. In addition, using AI Artificial Intelligence, it also optimizes trees and autonomous networks for energy systems, and emissions reduction in carbon. But AI training is also energy intensive, responsible for a sizable chunk of greenhouse gas emissions. As AI evolves, it is essential to guide its development and deployment by principles of sustainability and environmental responsibility. This chapter examines the various aspects of AI in resolving environmental and climate change issues to achieve sustainable goals. It also examines significant challenges and limitations intertwined with the incorporation of AI in the degradation of environmental crises and climate change.
