Abstract
Design studios have great importance for architecture education because they consist of an interactive process carrying out theory and practice together. In design studios, many discussions about design processes focus on different approaches, and many alternative design methods are produced. Studio V, one of the architectural design studios at Gazi University, offers students design practice both inside the school and on out-of-school technical trips. Studio V determines sustainability as the basic concept and experiences the spirit of the place with knowledge from the past. It aims to develop the student's ability to analyze, perceive, construct, criticize, question, and design. This chapter explains the concept and execution style of Studio V and illustrates the end-of-term products through a few student projects. It ends with an evaluation of the scope of the studio and its teaching methods.
