Abstract

This chapter presents the background to the study with a particular attention given to the landscape of multimedia-assisted English teaching in Vietnam since the adoption of the innovation reform in 1986. The methodology section describes five case studies that demonstrate how multimedia can be used to engage and support learners at different proficiency levels in the Vietnamese context. Potential challenges and application of cognitive theory of multimedia learning in English teaching practices are discussed. Practical tips for integrating multimedia into teaching practices are also presented. Finally, pedagogical considerations and recommendations for further research are provided.
