Abstract
This chapter presents a roadmap for teacher educators to equip their graduates with the ability to recognize and mitigate the limitations and risks of using ChatGPT in educational settings. With the rise of artificial intelligence (AI), the incorporation of AI-powered technologies like ChatGPT has the potential to enhance student learning. However, it also raises concerns about psychosocial harm for both students and educators. By sharing the burden of responsibility and fostering a safe working environment, teacher educators can prepare future teachers to leverage ChatGPT safely, harness its benefits, and navigate the complex landscape of a phenomena introduced in this chapter as ‘technorisk' while promoting positive educational outcomes.
