Abstract
The present chapter is focused on the development of elastomeric compositions for adhesive application. The modification of montmorillonite is shown to result in changing the chemical composition of the surface of montmorillonite, its reactivity, and the structure due to increasing the interplanar distance. Montmorillonite modified with polymeric quarternary ammonium salt and quarternary ammonium salt was studied in model elastomeric compositions. The strength of adhesive bond of elastomeric compositions with montmorillonite modified with quarternary ammonium salt or polymeric quarternary ammonium salts exceeds compositions with convenient additives at least by 25 – 37 after various types of ageing. Quarternary ammonium salts are revealed to be vulcanization-active compounds for sulfur vulcanization of elastomeric compositions.
