Abstract
The purpose of this chapter is to explore the lived experiences of persons within one school district through the remote learning option during the COVID-19 pandemic. This chapter provides a background of distance learning and challenges that were faced by many as restrictions from the COVID-19 pandemic were put in place, as well as a common concern for teachers of pre-k through 3rd grade students. A profile of the school district utilized is presented prior to the presentations of the case studies. The case studies include a mother of a young child who was in kindergarten at the beginning of the pandemic and her experiences throughout remote learning. Another case is presented from a teacher's perspective about teaching in a remote capacity. Best practices are presented as well as challenges and concerns. Finally, solutions and recommendations are made for the future of remote learning for young learners.
