Abstract
In March 2020, educators around the world rushed to implement remote learning programs for their students due to the national lockdown. Some schools were able to maintain connections with their children, while others struggled to maintain even the most basic level of instruction. Very early on in the lockdown, educators saw that a “digital divide” had occurred. This chapter will examine the background of distance learning and explore the current initiatives that are being used to promote remote instruction for k-12 as well as what the future of learning could look like for the next generation of students.
